Ten led battery indicator
This circuit is simple and a great help monitoring your battery. Advantages on this simple circuit:
- Ten instant reading coloured led indicator.
- Very low consumption on low battery (25 mA on good battery and 10 mA
on low battery)
- Very bright red warning led's.
- Four discharged levels.
- Weights nothing and occupies small space.
- Easy to assemble in the airplane from bottom or front.
- Visible in flight and low cost.
I used a simple PCB and an LM3914 IC that is 10 led display driver and works as a volt meter, one important point is the use of a very bright red led's allowing less consumption in low battery and a higher bright, other components are simple, but voltage divider requires low tolerance resistors, by adjusting this divider we can indicated voltage, in my case I defined it for 5,6 volt in the maximum charge position and 4,2 volt in last indicator. You should not fly in red indication, but some ground test may be done in order to know exactly how your battery pack responds.
