| You have a new airplane, congratulations, this is the moment, being a 3 hour or a 6 months in the garage building model, it's now ready for is first flight. It's always an exciting moment and a perfect occasion to make those basic and stupid mistakes, if this words help to avoid even only one of that "errors" than it worth the time spent writing this words. |
| - Does the model
look ok in all aspects? - Is the C.G in correct position? - Did you check at least 3 times for receiver battery? - Are ALL movements working? - In the correct direction and travel? - In first flight the best is to use factory recommended travels, you can adjust them for you later. - Is the engine proper "run in" and reliable enough for the first flight, its not nice a "dead stick" in the first flight. - Test radio range, at least walk away 20 meter from the plane with your antenna closed, its a quick test. - Check again for sensitive areas, like hinges, wheels, engine support and others. - Use a full tank for first fly. - Check wind direction and select a low wind day for first flight. - Walk in the ground with the model and do one or two fast runs to see how it goes. - Don't get airborne to early, let the model achieve a considerable (more than necessary) speed before. - Use our flight to correct trim your airplane and analyse how it handles. - After the first flight check again those sensitive areas and screws to ensure everything is ok. |
